Larsson Takes the Championship
The Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia 2016 is over, and the title went to 40-year old veteran Fredrik Larsson, with 20-year old Philip Morin taking second place. EnergyCasino driver Jocke Mangs has finished the championship in third, after driving impressively in a dramatic series of races.
The final weekend of racing at Ring Knutstorp was as nail-biting as ever; Larsson took first place in the first race, with Mangs claiming third. In the second race Mangs took first and Larsson second. Mangs played his part in securing overall victory for Larsson, by conceding a place to his team mate in a decisive race, thus ensuring Larsson the points needed to secure the championship title. Throughout the series the distinctive yellow and black EnergyCasino Porsches have often dominated the tracks, and always been a strong presence. It took a little while to get the cars optimised, but after a few races it seemed pretty clear that, unless there was a major disaster, Larsson and Mangs would be finishing in the top few. All of the drivers this year deserve a lot of credit for delivering one of the most exciting motorsport series in the world, and we’re all looking forward to next year. Congratulations to Larsson, Morin and Mangs, enjoy the celebrations and see you again soon.
